I. JOB PURPOSE/SUMMARY:Shall be responsible for monitoring and/or advising on all legal matters, contracts, and agreements. The Legal Officer shall also ensure the company complies with the statutory and corporate governance practices and guidelines as observed in the manufacturing industry.Legal Management 1. Review and draft contracts, agreements and internal policies and ensure that they are in compliance with all statutory or legal requirements2. Draft a wide variety of legal agreements3. Provide advice on corporate legal issues and business matters4. Provide internal advisory services to the business units and departments within the Company5. Provide commercial legal support to all departmental projects and job functions6. Ensure the development of service level agreements for service support and delivery7. Monitor the maintenance of the registers and other records required to be maintained by the Company 8. Assist in the development of guidelines, policies, procedures9. Analyze and review legal agreements, legislation and documents 10. Review and advice management on legal implications of internal policies and procedures11. Ensure (internal & external) compliance with laid down guidelines, policies and procedures; investigate issues of non-compliance as may be required12. Provide advice and guidance to management as needed during labor relations contract negotiations, including drafting proposals and facilitating meetings with union representatives13. Oversee collective bargaining procedures, including drafting, reviewing and modifying proposals, verifying legal contract terminology and suggesting additional rules and regulations as necessaryAdministrative Tasks1. Communicate with internal stakeholders, gathering necessary documents and information in building and settling legal issues within the department. 2. Conduct all initial research and draft legal narrative reports3. Review of Various Contracts4. Facilitate notarization of documents5. Oversee various clerical tasks, including making copies, sending emails and maintaining appointment schedules
